People are tired of the negative messages that our culture inundates us with about food, body, diet and fitness? Many are overwhelmed and confused by conflicting advice from "experts". Don't you just want to "eat, drink and be happy"? Your body wisdom and experience trumps all the experts and gives you clues to what is right for your body and your lifestyle.

Health and nutrition are my passion! I research constantly to expand my knowledge and write articles to inform others. There is a lot of misinformation about health and nutrition in general, but much of it is based on outdated science or industry sponsored research. It takes time to sift through all of it and test it out, to reveal what is true and accurate. I avoid propaganda and hype. I am always seeking out accurate and reliable information.

My education

The training I received in Dynamic Eating Psychology and Mind-Body Nutrition has equipped me to recognize the underlying causes of your eating challenges and unwanted behaviors, and help you transform your relationship with food, body and life into one that truly nourishes and supports you in a sustainable way. My skills are a combination of practical coaching techniques, psychology that produces results, clinical nutrition, body-centered practices, and mind-body science, along with a positive and compassionate approach to your challenges with food and body. You understand that it is necessary to recalibrate your body and restore body wisdom, but with so much conflicting advice, it’s difficult to know what to do and where to begin. You may have tried a few diets. Perhaps you lost weight, then gained it back repeatedly. That is frustrating. Nutritionists, dietitians and other practitioners change the diet by tweaking macronutrients or medicate the body, without realizing that the answer lies deeper.

I talk to people about health and nutrition. As a Certified Eating Psychology Coach, I understand the mind of the eater and that the mind needs to be part of the solution with food. My goal is to give you information and knowledge, so you can make the most educated and wise choices. As the reader / listener, you must make the final decision regarding your health care and food choices, and be responsible for maintaining your own health.

My approach

We are not going to repeat what has already been done, because if those strategies were going to work, they would have. You need an approach to health that is as unique as you are. I will use a non-diet approach to customize a wellness plan that is specifically for you, and only you. My work with you will be positive and empowering, and designed to help you transition at your own pace, into a more sustainable lifestyle with mind, body and food.

I view eating challenges as a doorway into the exploration of personal dimensions that impact your relationship with food, weight and health. We will not focus on the weight and the food, as much as we will focus more on your life’s journey, because the clues to solve your health or weight control issue are encoded in the details of your story.

Mind-body nutrition is all inclusive. It focuses on nutrition counseling to help you transition at your pace, into a healthier, more nourished relationship with food, body and life. What affects your mind, profoundly impacts your biochemistry and what affects your body also affects your mind. You can't separate the two. Stress will over-ride any positive healing strategy you do, making your efforts ineffective. So we will work with all aspects of who you are; body, mind, heart and soul, to help you become the healthiest, most creative, energetic, authentic and fullest self expression of "you".

I will guide you to bring about a very natural and sustainable change in your body, in a unique way. Real weight loss comes from more BEING, and less DOING. If you’ve been doing a long list of things and trying numerous techniques to lose weight, and they have not worked sustainably, then it is time to do a little less doing and relax into being. I do not diagnose, treat or prescribe, because I am not a doctor. Doctors are not taught what I know. I act as a resource to help you find answers and solutions, and coach you on your journey through illness to wellness to facilitate healing.

We will begin with a 90 minute intake consultation, in which we talk about your story. We look at your relationship with food, body, family, work, etc. We look at your goals, your current diet and lifestyle. I am always dedicated to building strong, long term relationships with my clients. You will always be listened to and treated with respect. You will receive individual and undivided attention during your sessions. Of course, your information will always be kept in the strictest and most secure confidence.

We will be in constant communication every week via email. I will share valuable information during the week and you will send one update email the following weekend telling me your thoughts, feelings, ah-ha moments, what resonated with you, how you put it into practice and how the information helped you. If you have a question during the week that I can answer quickly, you may ask it in an email.

Follow-up sessions, for when we will be entering the next phase of our work together, are 60 minutes.The number of sessions will depend on your goals and your level of commitment. Eating Speed

In this video, the animals at the zoo helped me demonstrate the concept of "eating speed".
