You’ve tried numerous products and approaches to restore your health, but the results you expected didn’t become reality. You thought to yourself, “Perhaps I didn’t do it right or for long enough? Maybe there is another product or way to deal with this?” You’ve been ripped off by products and people that promised results and didn’t deliver, been disappointed repeatedly, wasted time and money, and you are afraid to trust and try again. I know how you feel because that was my experience too.
You are coming up with reasons why you shouldn't do this again, but an equally large part of you knows if you don’t do something, you will continue to get worse. You used to have a promising career and an enjoyable life, but now your ill health won’t let you live to your fullest potential. Your life hasn’t turned out the way you planned and you want it back.
I want you to ask yourself a simple question: "Why are you considering another practitioner, prescription, product or procedure?” The answer: You want your health and your life back. Not trying will get you nowhere, but trying again is frightening, uncomfortable and you may be disappointed again. I understand your fear and frustration. I’ve been there too more times than I can count.
That simple question, and the answer to it, should shift everything from survival mode, which was just feeding your fears, and help you get back in control of your mind.
What's really keeping you from achieving your goals? Fear is paralyzing, and it is often disguised as things that don't seem like fear at all ... but when you dig down just a little, you realize that they are fear based: self protection, survival thinking.
Statements we tell ourselves like, "I'll never get control of this, I’m tired of trying, I’ve lost hope, What if this doesn’t work?” This is fear talking and it's keeping you from getting your health back and having the life you want.
The conversations you're having with yourself are just as logical sounding as mine were when I was in the same situation. And now you're starting to realize that you're getting ready - to get ready to do something about it and what’s holding you back is really just fear.
Fear is a right brain, survival mode way of operating that is based on emotion and instinct. Creativity, wisdom, logic, trust and confidence are found in the left side of your brain. You can’t be creative and solve problems, make wise decisions and be logical when you live in survival, fight or flight, emotional right brain functioning.
How do you change your right brain thinking to left brain thinking? The same thing I did - ask yourself, "Why am I doing this?" And don't give yourself a surface answer like ”I want my health back“. Dig deeper than that. I want you to list all the things you could or would do if you felt healthy, had energy for the tasks of the day and some to spare, could think clearly and remember, and your health was restored. Visualize and embody it, and feel what it would feel like.
The power of purpose enables you to tap into energy reserves, courage and determination, and create the healing and life you desire. What you visualize, you create. If you visualize yourself not getting well, not trusting and not trying one more time, not having the life you want, than that is the reality you create. If you want different results, you have to do something different.
Never loose sight of your goal and purpose. That is where your motivation and courage come from. A sense of purpose enables you to focus on what matters most, compels you to take risks and push forward regardless of the odds or obstacles. You’ve done it before when you wanted something that much. You’ve found out what doesn’t work in other areas of life and you made adjustments, overcame challenges, learned new information and went at it again with a whole new perspective. You can do this!
Knowing your “why” is an important first step in figuring out how to achieve the goals that excite you and create a life you enjoy living, versus merely surviving in the condition you are in right now!
Indeed, only when you know and focus intensely on your ‘why’ will you find the courage to take the risks needed to get where you want to go, and stay motivated when things get challenging.
All the experiences you had in previous years were not a waste. They had a purpose and you may not understand it now, but later, when you look back it will make sense.
If you're stuck, not wanting to try again because of fear, ask yourself that most important question: Why am I doing this? Revisit that question daily, because the more you ask it, the closer you'll get to freedom from chronic illness.
